Unwind & Recharge

I have been a bit quiet lately because I wanted to focus on my personal life and get down to some shopping. Anybody else feels invigorated after snatching a good sale here and there (read: Zara summer sale – uhm, 50% off, hello?)? Other than that, here's what I've been doing lately to unwind & recharge myself!
Magazines are not only a great way to fill up any voids on your coffee table or desk, but they provide me with a lot of inspiration. Especially on days where my mojo runs dry, it's always a nice thing to browse through pictorials and see what I can draw from that. My mom thinks they're a waste of money, which – granted, is true in the sense that fashion magazines have become obnoxiously overpriced over the past decade. I'd like to think there's a good reason for it since printed media is becoming slowly extinct. Lucky for them, I'm an old-fashioned gal. My favorite magazines are Porter, Vogue and HIGH CUT.

Photography is obviously linked to the previous one, but it takes a certain drive and vision of concept to actually go and shoot something. Over the past few months, I've experimented with different kinds of editing and although none of them are actually perfect, I still want to improve. That's obviously a work in progress, so that ought to keep me busy for this lifetime.

The miniature Disaronno liqueur was something I received while attending an event a while back. While I don't drink alcohol myself, it's still a cute addition as a prop for photos. Speaking of alcohol, I have been trying out all my perfume samples that I've acquired over the past months. Some of them are men's colognes and the one that has caught my interest has got to be Yves Saint Laurent's L'Homme. It's the sexiest scent ever and I definitely would not mind my future significant other to wear it on the regular.

It's no surprise that, over the years, I have bought countless of bijoux and jewelry. The sad thing is, I tend to forget I ever owned certain pieces and they just gather dust. Sometimes, it's a good thing to clear out those you don't even wear anymore and start to invest in pieces that are timeless and give you the most wear for your money. Just a few posts back, I wrote about Shop Artikel's affordable jewelry line (previously IVORY STUDIOS) and I have not stopped wearing them every day since.

Lotus Flower Bomb. Flowers can seriously cheer me up instantly. While I'm in love with the notion of guys bringing girls flowers for no specific reason at all, I'd rather not waste my time waiting for one to come around. I often switch between roses, lilies and chrysanthemums. And a little secret between us? I cut the hydrangeas myself in the dark of the night, because I am kinda chickenshit but bad-ass at the same time. But seriously guys, don't do it because you will get fined in the Netherlands for that mischief.

In short, this is what I've been up to aside from attending my personal matters. I have plans of shooting a lookbook soon, so stay tuned!
